To better understand the concept and especially the challenges of this program-project for Tunisia, webmanagercenter.com has met Néji Amaimia, international consultant and trainer of renewable energy in photovoltaic technology.

Foster in Med Project consists in promoting the development and use of energy in the Mediterranean region. It is made with partner countries in the region, namely Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Spain and Italy, as leader of this project, says the Tunisian expert.

Tunisia is represented by the chamber of commerce and industry of Tunis which is the leader for this project realization.

He has also stressed that the Foster In Med project has been established as part of the Neighborhood Policy of European Commission with countries of the Mediterranean .

Its objective is to promote solar photovoltaic technology in Tunisia by a series of measures and actions having the role of foster public awareness through the territorial animation activities in partnership with training centers and economic operators as well as the public institutions working in the field (ANME, STEG, Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines, etc…).

After this phase of training and awareness, there in the realization of pilot projects in each of the partner countries. In Tunisia, we are currently indentifying the site that will host the pilot project of 17 kw photovoltaic kret connected to national electricity grid.

This project will not only serve as a platform for education and training, because, the platform result-evaluation will allow a discernation of constraints and benefits of this technology.

At present in Tunisia, three sites have been identified that could host this installation , namely, the website of National Agency for Energy conservation (ANME) , National School of Engineers of Tunis (ENIT) and the National Center for Training of trainers. We have started the territorial awareness with operators in the sector and administration. This awareness aims at promoting both the use of solar technologies for end consumers as well as their benefits on their electricity bills.
